About the blog:
It is a simple little spot on the internet where I’ll comment, discuss, share, and pontificate about my life in general. Nothing fancy. No “cool” experiment in the social world. In fact, there is nothing all that remarkable about this blog at all. Just a spot on the internet for me to scribble down the things that pop in my head.
About the Author:
I was born in 1977 and grew up in various places around the world but ultimately the vast majority of my life was in the middle of the United States. I call myself mid-western and claim Kansas City as my “home.”
I’m a career Soldier, like my father before me, and work as a Public Affairs Specialist. I’ll keep doing this job until they kick me out or it is no longer fun. While part of what I do might creep in here from time to time I’ve also started a blog that focuses strictly on my professional life.
My interests run a wide swath of topics and this blog reflects that. I’m very much a “phase” person…which means I have a habit of becoming slightly obsessed with things for periods of time. That being said, I always wind up returning to certain central themes in my life.
I married a really cool chick in 2002 and do my best to live up to the task of keeping her happy. We don’t have any kids and don’t really want any. Not that we dislike kids…it just ain’t for us. We do have a dog that I treat like a friend and my wife treats like a daughter.
About the name:
A Koan is traditionally understood to be a word puzzle in Zen Buddhism used to bring about enlightenment. While Buddhism is one of my interest, I use the term “Koan” here more literally meaning “public record.”
Enjoy!
